I took care of a dog once named Daisy. She had anxiety and thus some health problems. One time, she was throwing up a lot, so I took her to the veterinarian to have her looked at.
She was not in a good mood, understandably. But she especially didn’t like the idea of getting into the car for a ride. I remember looking at her and wishing I could tell her that I was taking her to the vet to help her feel better. She was scared and may have worried that her life was going to get worse with this trip. I did eventually get medication for her and she stopped throwing up and felt better.
Then it hit me. This is an excellent example of my relationship with God-Source or my Higher Self (however you choose to view it). I do believe that there is a higher spirit of some sort guiding or driving me to what I desire.
Sometimes I get scared or worried that I’m going the wrong way. But that spiritual force is like a guidance system that is constantly guiding me back to what I desire, from whatever place I happen to be at the time.
Like Daisy, I can’t always understand the one who is in control. Our negative emotions are what we feel when we are not in vibrational alignment or harmony with God-Source or our higher selves.
The more we worry, the less we can hear God-Source because the further we get away from that signal. It’s like tuning a radio and turning from one station to another station. When we can relax and have fun (through meditation or playing or doing something else we really enjoy), then we can hear more clearly the feeling that “everything is alright.” When we tune our minds to worries, we are tuning out God-Source in a sense, so we can’t hear that reassurance.
The vibrational feeling that everything is alright and going to work out exists all of the time just like radio stations are constantly broadcasting. But most of us are flipping stations back and forth all day. Often, people explicitly change their vibrational radio to channels of worry on purpose when they check out the news or social media sites.
We always have the ability to change our focus, to switch our dial to a higher frequency. I hope we all can be more mindful about this.
I was meditating this morning, and I specifically put meditation on my list of things to do because I know how important it is. And as I was meditating the idea of sitting in a car and letting God-Source drive came into my head.
As a child, I used to go on long drives from Minnesota to South Dakota to visit my dad’s relatives the day after Christmas. It was five hours there and five hours back. I was accustomed to just sitting there and letting my dad drive and not worrying about a thing, except what song to listen to next on my CD player.
It’s been decades since I’ve felt like that though. I’m usually in the driver’s seat. And I think that always being in the driver’s seat can be a part of why so many of us feel like we have to grab the wheel and take control of our lives just like a car. We feel like no one else is going to get us to where we need to go in life.
Now, I do believe we have to literally drive our vehicles, God-Source isn’t going to physically drive them for us. But I think that we should perhaps relax and let God-Source take care of where our lives are heading more than we do. As they say, we should stop and smell the roses once in a while.
We could just relax on this journey through life and not worry about having to get everything done that we feel like we have to get done. When we’re stressed we’re worse at accomplishing things than when we’re relaxed. We actually have a lot more time to finish everything when we are relaxed and tuned into God-Source. We think of new ideas, shortcuts even.
I hope this was of interest to you. It’s something I’m going to be thinking about and visualizing more in future mediation sessions.
