To those who know nothing about Christianity or the Law of Attraction, the idea that all you have to do is ask for something and you get it seems wrong. That’s because it is wrong. It’s also why we’re told not to judge so harshly against things we’ve never studied out before.
He who answers a matter before he hears it— this is folly and disgrace to him.
Proverbs 18:13
I’m going to expand on the Law of Attraction below, but first I’ll clear up belief about Christians supposedly getting everything they ask for.
Asking In God’s Name
When Jesus said, “Keep asking, and it will be given to you. Keep searching, and you will find. Keep knocking, and the door will be opened for you,” (Matthew 7:7) he was speaking to believers. First, there the most-known translations skip the idea to “keep asking,” versus simply asking once. But also he knew the believing crowd would be doing the pre-requisite that follows so he didn’t mention it. It is mentioned elsewhere in the bible though.
“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it. (John 14:12-14)
“…and we will receive from Him whatever we ask, BECAUSE we keep His commandments and do what is pleasing in His sight.” (1 John 3:22)
I have written on my other Substack about coming in God’s name before. The word “name” means reputation and character. We give God a “bad name” when we sin. That’s what taking the Lord’s name in vain means. It’s about claiming to be a Christian and breaking God’s commandments. When you sin and claim to be of God you tell the world that your God is not powerful enough to stop your sinning. It makes your God look weak.
On the other hand, if you come or ask things in Jesus’s name (reputation/character), then you will be the image (representation) of God just as he was. So, if you act and talk like God, loving others as yourself and trusting in God more than idols (“saviors” from the drama triangle), then you will get what you ask for, which will always be loving in nature.
What lay people think is that Christians believe that if they call for fire to rain out of the sky and kill their “enemies” that God will do that so long as they simply ask. Is that in God’s name/character?
And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? But he (Jesus) turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. For the son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.
Luke 9:54-56
I know some will say God in the OT did some nasty stuff, so it is in his character to kill. I would say that the OT scribes lied about what God did and that Jesus is the image of God and if Jesus wouldn’t do it, neither would God.
“‘How can you say, “We are wise because we have the word of the LORD,” when the lying pen of the scribes has made it into a lie? Jeremiah 8:8
Our Higher Selves
I have written and spoken about us having higher-dimensional versions of ourselves that exist at the same time as our 3D self. A 2D piece of paper still exists inside of the 3D stack of paper. Our 3D self exists in our 4D lifetime (time is the 4th dimension). And our 3D self lives alongside our 5-dimensional self that exists outside of time.
I believe when we feel negative emotions that is a sign that we are not perceiving whatever we’re thinking about the same way our higher self is perceiving it at the same time. Because we’re vibrational, this causes a vibrational dissonance rather than harmony and so it feels bad to us.
I believe our higher self is in the image of God-Source and thinking those loving thoughts about everyone and everything. Whenever we are not, we feel negative emotions like fear, anger, and sadness.
Misconceptions about the Law of Attraction
So, people (who don’t understand the law of attraction and just hear that you get what you imagine/think about) may then think that a murderer or thief can live happily ever after. It’s bizarre to me that people think murders, thieves, rapists, etc. are “happy” in doing those things. If you murder someone it is usually out of anger, frustration, or greed, and those are not happy feelings. Thieves clearly don’t believe they have enough money or things. Greed is a bottom-less pit of a stomach, never truly satisfying. I wrote about how narcissists don’t actually love themselves on my other Substack and it’s the same idea.
These people have an emptiness inside of them which they’re trying to fill in inadequate ways. And any attempt to fill it inadequately is not resulting in satisfaction or true happiness. They’re not able to sit around in meditation and feel as if they have everything they desire already. The crimes are proof of that.
Miswanting
Miswanting is thinking we will enjoy something and finding out later that we didn’t actually enjoy it as we originally thought we would. I talk a lot about miswanting because it’s the reason people don’t get what they think they’re asking for. When we’re not aligned with our higher self (or when we’re not praying in God’s name/character) then we’re not going to get what we ask for. It means we are miswanting what we’re asking for.
Our higher self (or God-Source) knows what will most satisfy us personally and also be in the good for all mankind in the long run because “they” exist outside of time and know how it all works out.
You will get what you’re longing for. You will be happy with what you get. But you have to let go of your expectations of what it will look like, and it won’t harm others, because your higher self does not want to harm others.
Align With God-Source or your Higher Self
Because we often miscalculate how much we will enjoy a thing or experience, it is best to just go with the flow of life and trust that it’s all working out for the best (it is!). Meditation can help us to let go of the oars of the boat and trust that we will be carried to whatever we actually have been wanting.
But if you’re feeling particularly satisfied and happy, those positive emotions are a sign you are aligned with your higher self and “coming in God’s name” so feel free to milk those thoughts.
Be Mindful
If you’re thinking about “getting over on someone” and think that’s satisfaction, it’s not. It’s an attempt of the mind to “feel better” than a feeling of powerlessness. It’s not actual satisfaction or true happiness. It’s a sign you feel powerless. Feeling powerful is what you’re really wanting when you feel like that. You shouldn’t have to physically do something to feel better or find a feeling of powerfulness. Feeling better starts in your mind with your thoughts. And feeling powerful starts with finding an internal locus of control and getting out of the drama triangle.
