What is a Vibration?
In the law of attraction groups, you’ll hear the phrase, “Your vibe attracts your tribe,” which means your vibration is attracting people who are similar to it. You’ll also likely hear the phrases, “good vibes,” “high vibration,” and/or “low vibration.” Why do we talk about vibrations? What does it all mean? Well, I can’t tell you what others mean when they say it, but I can explain what I mean.
The picture above shows a black line on top that is stable. That is the God-Source high vibration that is always happy, excited, unconditionally loving, and bold (unafraid). God-Source is outside of time and knows how everything will work out so will never be afraid or jealous because there’s no confusion or worry.
Also depicted in the picture is a red oscillating vibration that can go very low compared to the black high-vibration line. Sometimes we can feel on top of the world, but we never quite stay there. Someone who just got engaged will likely feel very optimistic, unconditionally loving, excited, and unafraid of what may come in the future. That person would be lined up with God-source at that moment.
Why Do Negative Vibrations Feel So Bad?
If you know anything about music you know that certain notes (sound vibrations) can sound pleasant together and certain notes can sound unpleasant when played together. When it sounds “bad” it’s because they are dissonant. There is a vibrational dissonance between certain notes because they don’t “go together.” Dissonant vibrations are not "harmonic.”
When we are feeling and thinking the sorts of things God-Source would on a particular subject then we are in a mental and/or spiritual vibrational harmony with God-Source and feel good.
When we are not thinking or feeling the same way then we are in vibrational dissonance with God-Source and the result is that we feel bad, in the same way that it sounds bad to listen to dissonant notes. The more we get away from what God-Source is thinking or feeling on a particular subject the worse we feel. So, when you are hating someone or yourself, then it means you are viewing that person in a way that is completely different than what God-Source is thinking and feeling about that person.
When you are afraid you’re going to be feeling something God-Source is not feeling whatsoever. When you’re jealous, it’s going to be completely different than what God-Source is feeling because God-Source knows you can get what you actually need. We just have limiting beliefs that keep us from knowing how.
When we are in a low vibration of fear then we cannot think as clearly about all possibilities. It’s only when we relax and let go a bit that we can start to think more clearly and we will find there are answers we couldn’t see earlier.
Patterns of Thoughts
Our beliefs or thoughts about things are either in vibrational harmony with God-Source or are dissonant to God-Source. It may fluctuate greatly, not just by subject but by time period. But we can get into patterns of thoughts or beliefs while living life. We, as children, look around and see the world and try to make sense of it. We see common threads (which might not actually be there) and make assumptions. As we go about assuming something, we look for ways in which we are correct (and discount when we’re wrong), and eventually, we have full-formed beliefs.
Those beliefs may be true or incorrect, but once we have them, it takes time and effort to try to question them. It’s not impossible to question and change them, but it can be if you don’t want to question them. And you have to be able to look at the in the first place to question them.
Getting Something Stuck in Your Vibration
I’m going to talk about something personal that happened in my life to describe the next part. I realized after it happened and I was beating myself up that it was eerily similar to when I was a child. I realized this feeling was stuck in my vibration and trying to get out so I wouldn’t have to keep dealing with it…
