Good video. I relate well to this, Barbara. The decluttering thing has been something I've been doing for 19 years - to a greater or lesser extent. Having got tantalisingly close now to 'finishing' - and, yes, I've had inherited things to have to sift through, some of the stuff going back three generations - I have had the uncomfortable realisation only in the last year or two (a wee while longer than you to have the epiphany!) that there is a strong procrastination element and me being 'fake busy', although that phrase might not be quite right but it's something similar that I heard another writer talk about.

Thank you for your comment (and letting me know you watched the video). I am a lot more willing than many to let go of inherited items. I am happy to take a picture and scan things and let go of the actual item for instance. But I understand holding onto memorabilia of past events or people. I still have a couple of small things from others. I'm just surrounded by things that aren't mine. So I understand for some decluttering is almost another subject (different trauma issues).

Yes, to the "Fake busy" in a sense. I know it's not always the case, but as they say, "Buying books and reading books are two different hobbies." Sometimes I may end up procrastinating reading a book to scan it. One of the problems with that is when I read books, I find things I want to write about or make a video about, which interrupts my flow. It is very difficult for me to read without mentally turning it into work, which is definitely why I procrastinate reading at times.
