A very interesting take. I can see how procrastination is freezing. Anything other than some unpleasant task. And this is bound to be amplified by something easy to consume. Traditionally television, but scrolling feeds work too.

I have never used social media so the closest I have come is the Notes function here on Substack. I have found myself slipping in to the feed when I procrastinate. It is easy. A big giant list of content. I have had to ration myself or you can lose hours.

I would argue a lot of virtue signalling comes from this same anxious position. An easy to consume thing, like Twitter, with very easy methods to demonstrate nominal support for a thing - retweeting and liking. Just a simple button click. This makes it feel less like procrastination since it is moderately interactive, you are doing something. Even though it is not that useful.

Virtue Signaling is basically "Fawning," so I would agree. Yes, it fools people into thinking they're doing something worthwhile.

Yes good point. It is really fawning. It is activity, and all the better for being easy.

What a world. Maybe there is some truth to the observation this has always existed but modern technology just amplifies its presence. The recent spat about censorship on here was a tiny handful of people who could exaggerate their presence to an extent.

Projection has always existed. But I think getting stuck in the fear response is relatively new. In the past people had to interact with the real world and they didn't have the ability to sit around and doomscroll or "verbally" fight with people (who they didn't have to worry about actually physically fighting to get the adrenaline out and used).

Yes, of course. That is a great point. It ties in with the left hemisphere talk. People living in their heads, projecting their model of the world into the world. They shun reality. So criticism of trans ideology becomes trans genocide, which is absurd.

Consider that many of the people who say they are conservatives, or anti-abortion or anti-government are just saying this because they feel as if they do not, they’ll be labeled a libtard or murderer or child molester. Consider that they feel so threatened that they are now fawning because they have no idea what else to do.
